History of Weatherford tells of trials, tribulations

  • This scene shows Weatherford in its early days as a city. The railroad company decided on an area known as Jordan Flats, which is present day Weatherford as terminus for the railroad.
Much like other small communities and towns west of the Mississippi River, Weatherford arose due to the railroads being built as part of the westward expansion after the land run of 1892 that opened the Cheyenne and Arapaho lands to white settlement.
