Since before the first land run of 1889, non-Indian settlers who were vying for land in Oklahoma Territory were already bringing forth the idea of statehood so Oklahoma could be represented in Congress. The fact three states that bordered Oklahoma Territory, Kansas in 1861, Arkansas in 1836, Missouri in 1821, already had gained statehood prior to Oklahoma opening for non-Indian settlement added…
